Last week our students enjoyed visiting our Scholars Library where they checked out MANY books!
This coming week in Literacy, all students should complete their Research Papers for Night of the Notables. Then, some students will work on Future Problem Solving and Fiction Comprehension, some students will work on Fiction Comprehension, and some students will work on Writing Skills. All students will continue to work on Grammar Skills.
In Science, Moschel's class will complete The Energy Unit Test, Part II. They will begin the Unit about "States of Matter". Gutt's class will study for the Energy Unit Test, and then complete Parts I and II.

Thursday, March 10, is Night of the Notables. Students will dress in costumes and present their projects to parents.

Weekly Update: February 22 - March 4
Hello Parents,
I hope you are enjoying this warm weekend. It certainly feels like spring!
Last week our students had a short week, and they had their Pizza Party for winning 5 weeks of Spirit Day! Let's keep it up and win another party!
This coming week in Literacy students will work on their Research Papers for Night of the Notables, and they will study grammar. Please review the Assignment Sheets for Night of the Notables to see what they are doing.
In Science Ms. Moschel's class will review for the Energy Unit Test, take the Test, and begin the "States of Matter" Unit. Ms. Gutt's class will study nuclear and mechanical energy, and prepare for the Unit Test.

I hope you are keeping warm and cozy on this very cold weekend!
Last week our students enjoyed a visit to our Scholars Library. Friday was an exciting day for them, as they exchanged Valentines, ate lots of treats, and had a wonderful afternoon playing games, building amazing structures, being read to, and watching a movie. Wow!
This coming week in Literacy students will continue to develop skills in writing, nonfiction reading comprehension, and grammar. My class will take a grammar test on Monday, February 22. Ms. Gutt's class will take a grammar Test on Thursday, February 25.
In Science, students will complete their study of energy, and will begin preparing for the Unit test. Date to be determined.

Weekly Update February 8 - February 19
Hello Parents,
I hope you are enjoying this Superbowl Weekend!
Last week our students had a wonderful and educational time at the Mint Museum. They met with an expert on the works of Romare Bearden who explained various paintings, and guided the students while they created their own Romare Bearden style collages. It was an excellent field trip!
This coming week in Literacy students will work on writing their Research Papers for Night of the Notables. The assignment sheets came home with students last week. Please note the dates various parts of the paper are due. Students will also continue to develop their skills in grammar and nonfiction reading comprehension.
In Science students will complete their study of different forms of energy, (I hope), and will begin reviewing for the Unit Test.
Please take note of the following announcements/reminders:
1. No student may remain indoors for recess without a note from their doctor.
2. On Mondays, Ms. Gutt and I will be sending home one folder with all work that has been graded the previous week, a list of any missing work, and any documents that need to be signed. Please look carefully at ALL of your child's work, sign the folder, and return it by Wednesday of that week. We hope that this procedure will help keep you informed as to what and how your child is doing, what work may be late, and what documents need to be signed.
3. When I give an assignment, all students take out their Planner, write the assignment in it on the date it is due, and I personally check each Planner. PLEASE make sure your child has their Planner every day. Check it regularly to keep track of upcoming due dates.
4. When I ask students to take notes, I either write the notes on the board and wait while students copy, or I stop a video, tell the students exactly what to write, and wait for them to do so. If your child has been absent, it is up to them to copy someone 's notes.
5. Students should be able to complete ALL of my assignments in class. They will need to study for Quizzes and Tests at home. If your child is not completing work in class, please ask him/her why, If there is a problem, please let me know.
6. It is our month to supply individually wrapped, store bought, nut free items for the School Snack Cart.
7. Friday, February 19, has been set aside for Parent-Teacher Conferences. If you wish to schedule a Conference, please let me know.
