December is our class' month to bring snacks for the school Snack Cart. Please send individually wrapped store bought items for the students to purchase. The proceeds go toward the 8th grade Washington DC Class Trip. Thank You!

Last week our students enjoyed a visit to our Scholars Library, and they had lots of fun wearing hats on Friday! Thank you to all parents who donated food!
This coming week is short due to the Thanksgiving Day holiday. In Literacy students will continue to develop their skills in spelling, grammar, writing, and nonfiction reading comprehension.

Weekly update: November 16 - November 27
Good Morning Parents,
I hope you are all enjoying this cold, but dry, weekend!
Lat week our students enjoyed a wonderful Veterans' Day presentation. The choir sang beautifully, there was a humbling slide show, and the main speaker made tears come to my eyes. We are indeed fortunate to live in a country where we are free to express our views, religions, skills, and talents. Students then enjoyed a day at home with you!
This coming week in Literacy, students will continue to develop their spelling, grammar, writing, and nonfiction reading comprehension skills. Students will take a Grammar Test on Thursday, November 19. They will analyze sentences using all eight parts of speech. Students will visit our Scholars Library.

Weekly Update: November 9 - November 20
Hello Parents,
Last week our students very enthusiastically designed and began running their own experiments to compare the rates at which water and land heat up and cool down. Thank you to those parents who allowed us to borrow heat lamps or other supplies!
This morning I attended our first Open House for enrollment next year. The gym was completely full and people were standing along the back and walls. Needless to say, most families will be unable to have their child(ren) attend our school, due to lack of open seats. I am proud that so many families would like their children to attend our school, and at the same time I feel badly for all those who will not be able to send their children to a place where they are accepted, nurtured, and encouraged to grow.
Next week in Literacy students will work to develop their writing, grammar, spelling, vocabulary , non-fiction reading comprehension, and cursive. (That's a lot!)
