Good Morning Parents,
What a beautiful day! I plan to spend some time outside later, and I hope you are able to do the same.
Last week our students presented their Ancient China Projects. Most students did an excellent job - congratulations to them on their very fine PowerPoints, their models, and their presentations. Grade sheets will go home Monday. Also, if you have not already seen it, please look in your child's orange "Take-Home" folder for their beginning-of-the year Reading Assessment and their end-of-year Reading Assessment. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Last week our school held the annual Talent Show. I know Quinn, Jack, and Maddie were fantastic!
This week we are, of course, completing everything.
In Math, students will complete their End-of-Year Assessments. I will prepare a grading sheet for each child, comparing the beginning of year assessment with the end-of-year assessment.
We have completed our Novel Studies for Literacy.
In Social Studies we will study the Silk Road and take our Ancient China Post-Test.
In Science we will conclude our study of eclipses and take the Unit Post-Test.
Here are some reminders for the final week of school!
On Monday, June 3, Reading Records are due.
Tuesday, June 4, is Field Day.
Students who take the Eagle Bus will be dropped off at Park Road Park.
Before- care students will be driven to the park by Mr. Marino.
All other students should go directly to the park.
Your student should be at the park by 8:30.
Please wear the purple class shirt and appropriate clothing. Students MUST wear sneakers. Sandals, flip-flops, and crocs will NOT be allowed. If a student is not wearing proper footwear he/she will not be allowed to participate in the activities. Students may wear sunglasses and hats.
Students MUST bring their own water bottle with their name on it. They must keep track of it during the activites.
We will return to school and eat lunch in our classroom.
That afternoon, we will have a Social Studies Lesson, and then students will watch videos (since they will be worn out). Our class may bring PJs, a sleeping bag or blanket, and a pillow. You may also send any appropriate G rated movies.
On Wednesday, June 5, students will sign year-books in the afternoon. There will be an awards ceremony at school during the day for graduating 8th grade students and their families. Graduation will be at 7:00pm at our school
On Thursday, June 6, we will have class party from 1:00-3:00pm. Ms. Chatigny is in charge of the party, so please direct any questions to her.
Friday, June 7, is the last day of school! Students will clean the classroom, watch movies, and play games.
I think that's all the news for now. It has been a privilege and (for the most part) a real joy to spend the year with your children. I hope you all have a safe, wonderful summer and a happy and productive year in third grade! Thank you for everything!!
