Weekly Update: December 14 - January 8

Dear Parents:

I wish you a lovely weekend and hope you are able to enjoy this beautiful spring-like weather!

Please remember that this month it is our turn to supply items for the school Snack Cart. Please send in store-bought, individually wrapped items for sale. The proceeds go toward funding the 8th grade class trip to Washington DC. Remember, we are a nut-free school. Thank you!

This coming week in Literacy students will develop skills in writing, nonfiction reading comprehension, grammar, spelling, and problem solving.

Here are some daily reminders for the coming weeks:
On Monday, December 14, signed Reading Records are due.
Signed science worksheet about clouds is due.
Signed definitions from Johnny Appleseed is due.

On Wednesday, December 16, students will take a Language Test covering math words.
All school library books are due.

On Friday, December 18, Writing work is due from all Literacy Groups.
Nonfiction Reading work is due from all students.
Students will attend a school Winter Concert in the morning.
Students will participate in a class Winter Party from 1:30- Dismissal.

There is no school from Monday, December 21 – Friday, January 2. It is our Winter Break. Enjoy!!

On Monday, January 4, signed Reading Records are due.

On Tuesday, January 5, we will have our Class Spelling Bee.
I already sent home a list of words for your child to study, as well as study tips.

On Wednesday, January 6, the winners of our Class Spelling Bee will compete in the School Spelling Bee.

Weekly Update: December 7 - December 18

Hello Parents,

I hope you are enjoying this first weekend of December!
It is our class' month to provide items for the Snack Cart.  Please send store-bought, individually wrapped items.  The proceeds go toward the 8th grade class trip to Washington D.C.  Thank you to those who have already sent items!

Last week our students enjoyed a visit to our Scholars Library.

Next week in Literacy students will continue to develop skills in writing, grammar, and Nonfiction Reading Comprehension.  Ms. Gutt will distribute a list of math vocabulary words.  The Language Test on those words will be Wednesday, December 16.  There will be no other spelling words before Winter Break.
